Central Fort Bend Chamber October Working Lunch Series Employment Law

What should business owners know about employment laws? Misinterpretation of important laws, regulations and amendments can leave many employers unsure of all of the requirements in dealing with employees.

Join the Central Fort Bend Chamber for its Working Lunch Series on Employment Law to learn how to determine whether employees are truly exempt; when workers are employees vs. independent contractors; how to ensure required records are kept according to the Fair Labor Standards Act; and important considerations when hiring employees.

Melissa Garcia-Martin of Garcia-Martin & Martin, P. C. will present on these topics to help business owners navigate the constantly evolving area of wage and hour laws and best hiring practices. The event will be hosted by Presenting Sponsor Solid Business Solutions and is scheduled for October 20 at the Fort Bend Country Club, 2627 FM 762, Richmond, Tx 77469, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Garcia-Martin is a Houston business attorney specializing in business formation and employment legal cases in Sugar Land and Houston, Tx. She has extensive experience in the areas of Business Law, Commercial Litigation, and Labor and Employment Law.

The Central Fort Bend Chamber’s Working Lunch Series focuses on technical education topics for small business and is held the third Thursday of each month.

Sponsorships are available for $500 for the Working Lunch Series. The cost of the luncheon is $25 for Chamber members and $35 for non-members.
